Nadat Sarah getuige is van haar moeders moord groeit ze op als een gebroken meisje, met een bijzondere bewondering voor de geestenwereld. De herinnering aan haar moeder en haar rusteloze ziel, zorgen voor een opening naar de wereld van de geesten van recente overledenen. Eén van deze zielen leidt haar naar Cal, een jonge autodief, die met de dood wordt bedreigd.
