Wanneer Alison Blanchard arts wil worden, moet zij haar vrees opzij zetten. Tijdens haar studie zal zij geconfronteerd worden met rijen van lijken. Van het begin voelt zij zich ongemakkelijk in het laboratorium. Op één of andere manier voelt zij een bepaalde aanwezigheid van iets wat zij niet kan verklaren. Dit gegeven geeft haar eerst alleen maar de kriebels, maar wanneer een vriend van haar dood wordt aangetroffen, beginnen de problemen pas echt.
