Hoewel Eve (Meg Ryan) met moeite overzicht weet te houden in haar eigen chaotische leven, wordt er van haar verwacht ook voor haar dementerende vader te zorgen. Haar zus Georgia (Diane Keaton) is eigenaar van een magazine en heeft het dus te druk. Maddy (Lisa Kudrow), haar andere zus, is soapactrice en kan onmogelijk weg omdat ieder moment haar grote doorbraak kan komen. De druk op Eve wordt steeds groter, en op een gegeven moment beseft ze dat er alleen nog maar een telefonische band is met haar familie. Dus wat moet ze doen.... de telefoon ophangen?
