Sam Gillen is een ontsnapte gevangene die intrekt op de boerderij van weduwe Clydie en haar twee kinderen. Clydie wordt bedreigd door een lokale rijke zakenman. Sam Gillen voelt het als zijn taak om Clydie en haar kinderen te beschermen tegen al het kwaad.
