De tienjarige Gloria en haar grootvader Bud, die pas weduwe is geworden, sluiten vriendschap met een mysterieus rendier als de familie samenkomt voor Kerstmis. Bud begint te geloven dat Prancer misschien wel magisch is, maar Gloria vreest dat zijn theorie hem rechtstreeks naar een bejaardentehuis zal sturen.
