De achtjarige Sophia rouwt om het verlies van haar moeder. Samen met haar vader en haar grootmoeder brengt ze de zomerperiode door in een vakantiehuis op een eilandje in de Finse Golf. Het drietal verwerkt de dood van hun geliefde op hun eigen manier.
