In het begin van de 19e eeuw was Texas nog in handen van de Mexicaanse dictator generaal Santa Anna. Nadat de Texanen de stad San Antonio hadden veroverd, zet de generaal begin 1836 de tegenaanval in, om het verzet voor een onafhankelijk Texas voor eens en voor altijd de kop in te drukken. Een vrijwilligersleger van zo'n 200 mannen verschanst zich in het fort The Alamo - een verlaten missie. Onder hen de beroemde David Crockett ( Billy Bob Thornton), kolonel William Travis en James Bowie. Gedurende twee weken verdedigen de mannen The Alamo tegen een overmacht van 2000 Mexicaanse soldaten en weten ze geschiedenis te schrijven in hun strijd voor onafhankelijkheid van Texas.
Nee, helaas is The Alamo nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
