De rijke maar verwende vrouw Joanna Stayton huurt timmerman Dean Proffitt in om een kast op haar jacht te maken. Ze weigert hem echter te betalen, omdat ze ontevreden is met het resultaat. Als ze later bij het zoeken naar haar trouwring op het dek overboord valt, en daarbij haar geheugen verliest, komt de gescheiden Proffitt haar bij wijze van wraak ophalen om te zeggen dat zij zijn echtgenote is, het huishouden moet doen en zijn vier kinderen moet verzorgen.
