Eind jaren tachtig, tijdens een schoolfuif op Valentijnsdag wordt de onpopulaire nerd Jeremy Melton uitgelachen door alle vijf de meisjes die hij ten dans vraagt, behalve door Dorothy. Even later staan ze in een hoekje te kussen. Enkele pestkoppen betrappen hen en lachen ze uit, waarop Dorothy zegt dat Jeremy haar heeft lastig gevallen. De jongeman wordt in elkaar geslagen. Zo'n twaalf jaar later zijn de vijf meisjes twintigers en krijgen ze plots ziekelijke valentijnskaartjes ondertekend met J.M. Zou Jeremy Melton terug zijn? Of is het iemand anders die de meisjes de stuipen op het lijf jaagt?
