Een onderzoeker aan een museum in Chicago komt terug uit Zuid-Amerika met enkele kisten met gevonden voorwerpen. De politie ontdekt een aantal verschrikkelijke moorden op het schip waarmee de kisten Amerika binnen gekomen zijn, gevolgd door een moord in het museum zelf. Lt. Vincent D'Agosta wordt op de zaak gezet. Hij moet op zoek naar een gigantisch beest dat zich in het museum bevindt.
