Wanneer karatekampioen Michael Rivers het laatste toernooi uit zijn carrière wint, biedt de duistere zakenman Ron Hall hem de kans om in een illegale Kumite in Bulgarije te vechten tegen de beste krijgskunstenaars ter wereld. Wanneer Michael weigert, laat Hall zijn dochter ontvoeren en om haar te redden heeft Rivers geen andere keuze dan mee te doen aan het dodelijke toernooi. Aangekomen in Bulgarije ontdekt hij dat hij niet de enige vechter is wiens geliefde is meegenomen. Rivers roept de hulp in van trainers Master Loren en Julie Jackson, maar zal dit genoeg zijn om het toernooi te winnen en het leven van zijn dochter te redden?
