New York, in de vooravond. Honderden voertuigen rijden door de tunnel die Manhattan met New Jersey verbindt. Toeristen, bedienden, gehaaste zakenlui, taxi's en vrachtwagens rijden allemaal in de richting van de buitenwijken. Een gestolen auto slalomt tegen hoge snelheid door het verkeer heen, om zo aan de politie te ontsnappen. Plots verliest de chauffeur de controle over het voertuig.
