Frankrijk, de zeventiende eeuw. Het land is in chaos. Kardinaal Richelieu probeert koning Louis XIII van de troon te stoten en zelf de macht te grijpen. Daarvoor heeft hij een privé-leger gecreëerd, dat onder aanvoering staat van de sadistische Febre. Tijdens één van hun plunderingen worden de ouders van de kleine D'Artagnan in koelen bloede door Febre vermoord. Het jongetje groeit op met maar één doel voor ogen: net zoals zijn vader een Musketier worden en wraak nemen op Febre.
