Mark O'Brien, een man die in een ijzeren long ligt, besluit op 36-jarige leeftijd dat hij niet langer maagd wenst te zijn. Met de hulp van zijn therapeut en zijn priester neemt hij contact op met de getrouwde Cheryl Cohen-Greene, die een zogenaamde 'sex surrogate' is; een sekstherapeute.
