Drew Clark is een leraar. Hij accepteert een tijdelijke vervangingsbaan in zijn oude woonplaats Chestnut Hollow, Texas, waar hij Aiden ontmoet, de spreekwoordelijke nieuwe jongen op school die wanhopig op zoek is naar een zorgzame vriend. Hoewel hij liever ergens anders een baan had aangenomen, bedenkt Drew zich in Chestnut Hollow wanneer hij Lainie Abbott ontmoet, de nieuwe manager van de enorme appelboomgaard en ciderfabriek van zijn ouders en, nog belangrijker, de moeder van Aiden.
