Eric is een teruggetrokken animator die woont bij zijn zorgzame moeder. Hij is verliefd op zijn vriendelijke collega Carlo, maar durft dit niet uit te spreken. Dat kan hij ook niet, want Eric kan niet praten. Hij communiceert met anderen via een whiteboard dat om zijn nek hangt. Als Erics moeder hem vraagt zijn vervreemde oom Rogelio te bezoeken, wordt hij uit zijn isolement losgerukt en geconfronteerd met onderdrukte jeugdherinneringen en sinistere ruimtewezens.
