Als Annie haar ouders vertelt dat ze gaat trouwen, slaat dit bij vader George in als een bom. Hij kan maar niet accepteren dat hij zijn kleine meid gaat verliezen aan een andere man. Annie en haar moeder gaan dolblij beginnen met de voorbereidingen voor deze heugelijke dag. Maar George is allesbehalve blij als de kosten behoorlijk hoog uitvallen en de rest ook niet gesmeerd loopt.
