In het stoffige hart van het Amerikaanse zuidwesten wordt de onschuldige boerenjongen Caleb Collon (Adrian Pasdar) door een mooi meisje (Jenny Wright) verleid om zich aan te sluiten bij een losgeslagen bende van kwaadaardige zwervers onder leiding van de raadselachtige Jesse (Lance Henriksen). Maar dit is niet zomaar een bende outlaws; Caleb zit gevangen in een nachtmerrie van zielloos kwaad dat wacht in de schaduw. Een helse, door bloed en absolute gruwel gedreven chaos die begint als het donker wordt.
