Beroepshalve is George een mislukking, maar in zijn dagdromen beleeft hij als Indiana Jones geweldige avonturen en maait hij als Rambo hele rijen tegenstanders neer. Op een dag erft hij van een oom een compleet regionaal tv-station dat weliswaar op sterven na dood is. Met de hulp van zijn vriend Bob en de knotsgekke showmaster Stanley tracht hij het tv-net er weer bovenop te helpen. Hun doldrieste invallen en gekke grappen jagen de kijkcijfers de hoogte in, tot groot ongenoegen van R.J., de baas van concurrent Channel 8. Die probeert voortdurend stokken tussen de wielen te steken...
