Een Nederlandse slavenkapitein wordt tijdens een reis naar Cuba geconfronteerd met een opstand die wordt aangewakkerd door een pas gevangen genomen Afrikaanse slaaf, Tamango. De slaven nemen de maîtresse van de kapitein gevangen en dwingen een confrontatie af.
