Annie is net afgestuurd en krijgt de kans om bij een groot bedrijf te werken en succesvol te worden, maar voor ze er aan begint krijgt ze twijfels of ze dit wel wil. Tijdens een worsteling met zichzelf over wie ze wil worden krijgt ze, door een misverstand, het aanbod om als nanny te gaan werken bij een rijk gezin. Al snel ontdekt ze dat het zoontje geen aandacht krijgt van zijn ouders en daarom zijn woede op de buitenwereld afreageert. De moeder is te druk met haar rijke leventje om de problemen in haar leven onder ogen te zien en de vader is nooit thuis en zondert zich af van zijn gezin. Wanneer Annie, die door het misverstand alleen Nanny genoemd wordt, een band begint te krijgen met het jongetje, moet ze haar privé-leven opzij zetten om dat van hem op de rails te krijgen.
