Lyle Rogers en Chuck Clarke zijn de beste vrienden die als duo optreden in derderangs bars en duistere café's. Met een grote carriere in het achterhoofd accepteren ze een wazig contract voor een aantal optreden in Ishtar, een klein staatje in het Midden-Oosten. Bij hun aankomst komen ze in contact met de jonge en mooie revolutionaire Shirra en Chuck leent haar zijn paspoort. Na diverse absurde toestanden blijkt uiteindelijk dat de CIA, de regering van Ishtar en zelfs de rebellen hen uit de weg willen ruimen. Ondertussen slepen onze vrienden zich door de woestijn, in het gezelschap van een blinde kameel!
Nee, helaas is Ishtar nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
