Lorenz Hart maakt deel uit van het songwriter-duo Rodgers en Hart. 31 maart 1943 markeert de première van Oklahoma! Deze Broadway-productie is het eerste project waarbij Richard Rodgers samenwerkt met Oscar Hammerstein II, die Hart vervangt. Gedurende zijn leven worstelt Hart met een depressie en een alcoholverslaving. Tussen Rodgers en hem komt het tot vele confrontaties.
