De film vertelt het verhaal van de simpele Forrest Gump. Zijn lage IQ weerhoudt hem er niet van om een grote rol te spelen bij diverse belangrijke gebeurtenissen in de Amerikaanse geschiedenis. Zo zien we hem in Vietnam vechten, Elvis en JFK ontmoeten, enzovoorts.
Nee, helaas is Forrest Gump nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
