Amerika in de jaren '20: drie gevangenen slagen er in te ontsnappen tijdens de dwangarbeid. Ze zijn van plan de buit die één van hen verstopt heeft op te halen. Aangezien het geld verborgen is in een huis dat binnen korte tijd onder water zal staan door de aanleg van een nieuwe dam, is er haast bij geboden.
