Prinses Poppy is de optimistische leidster van de trollen. Samen met de sombere Branch moet ze de trollenwereld wereld verlaten. Ze belanden in een avontuur waarbij ze niet alleen op elkaar zijn aangewezen, ook moeten ze uit handen blijven van de Bergens, pessimistische wezens die alleen blij zijn als hun maag gevuld is met trollen.
