Het verhaal van een wietrokende, losbandige muziekproducente in Los Angeles (McDormand). Ze heeft een jong rockstervriendje en wordt geconfronteerd met haar nette zoon (Bale) die net is afgestudeerd aan Harvard en zijn rijke verloofde (Beckinsale). Moeder en zoon kunnen niet erg met elkaar opschieten, maar de verloofde vindt de levensstijl van haar aanstaande schoonmoeder wel interessant.
Nee, helaas is Laurel Canyon nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
