Christine Jesperson is een eenzame performance-kunstenares, die bijverdient als taxichauffeuse voor oudere mensen. Ze gebruikt haar artistieke visies om de dingen en mensen naar wie ze verlangt dichterbij te brengen. Richard Swersey (John Hawkes), een pas gescheiden schoenenverkoper die zijn twee zoontjes probeert op te voeden, hoopt stilletjes dat er fantastische dingen gaan gebeuren. Maar wanneer Christine toenaderingspogingen onderneemt, raakt hij in paniek. Richard's zevenjarige zoon Robby heeft ondertussen een pikante internetrelatie met een onbekende vrouw, en zijn veertienjarige broer Peter laat zich als proefkonijn gebruiken door twee oversekste pubermeisjes.
