Denis Bagley is een reclamemaker die maar geen slogan kan bedenken voor een zekere paarse crème. De toenemende bezorgdheid over deze onmacht heeft negatieve gevolgen op zijn verstandhouding met zijn vrouw, vrienden en collega's. Dan krijgt een steenpuist in zijn nek plotseling ogen en een mond, waarna het begint te praten en uitgroeit tot zijn alter ego.
