Mahabharata vertelt het verhaal van de strijd tussen twee zijdes van een Indiase familie. Aan de ene kant de oudere tak, de Kauravas, en aan de andere kant de jongere tak, de Pandavas. Zij strijden om de troon van Hastinapura, het koninkrijk van de Kuru clan. In zijn reikwijdte is de Mahabharata meer dan slechts een verhaal over.
Nee, helaas is The Mahabharata nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
