In het New York van de jaren dertig vertrekt een vrouw, met een reputatie om rijke getrouwde mannen om haar vinger te winden, naar de Italiaanse Rivièra. Ze raakt verwikkeld in de relatie van een jong getrouwd stel, omdat ze de echtgenoot lijkt te verleiden. Maar haar ware bedoeling ontgaat bijna iedereen.
