April Burns heeft een niet al te beste relatie met haar familie. Ze besluit haar vader, moeder, zusje, broertje en oma uit te nodigen voor Thanksgiving in haar kleine appartement in New York's Lower East Side. April stuit echter op allerlei problemen in de voorbereiding op het etentje. Haar familie heeft tijdens de rit van Pennsylvania naar New York ondertussen haar eigen problemen te verwerken.
