Herrieschopper en gitarist Dewey Finn droomt ervan de rockwedstrijd Battle of the Bands winnen. Zijn collega's gooien hem echter uit de groep. Dewey zit nu depressief te wezen in zijn huis, waarvan de huur ook al maanden niet meer betaald is. Wanneer er voor zijn huisgenoot Ned een telefoontje komt met een aanbod om in te vallen als leraar, doet Dewey zich voor als Ned en begint met lesgeven op de prestigieuze Horace Green lagere school. Het strenge schoolhoofd Mullins volgt Dewey met argusogen. De gitarist heeft dan wel geen kaas gegeten van lesgeven, hij brengt zijn leerlingen wel de liefde bij voor de rock 'n roll.
Nee, helaas is School of Rock nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
