Daryl, een tienjarig jongetje, wordt op een dag zwervend in de bossen gevonden. Hij heeft geheugenverlies. Via een kindertehuis komt hij bij een kinderloos echtpaar terecht. Daar lijkt hij zich te ontwikkelen tot een geniaal kind: hij is zijn klasgenootjes ver vooruit en maakt zich alle leerstof supersnel eigen.
