John Anderson (Robert Duvall) is een bijna gepensioneerde huurmoordenaar uit New York. Met het verdiende geld van zijn opdrachten onderhoudt hij zijn vriendin Maggie (Kathy Baker) en haar dochter Jenny (Katherine Micheaux Miller). Uiteraard weten beiden niet wat deze zwijgzame mysterieuze man voor de kost doet. Voor John Anderson is het tijd om zijn laatste kunstje te vertonen om daarna te settelen. Zijn allerlaatste doelwit is een puisant rijke generaal uit Buenos Aires. Door het onverwachte uitblijven van de generaal heeft de huurmoordenaar tijd om de stad te bekijken. Na de nodige omzwervingen belandt John in een tangoclub waar hij valt voor de charmes van danseres Manuela (Luciana Pedraza). Wat volgt is een moeizame romance tussen de introverte huurmoordenaar en de extraverte tangodanseres.
Nee, helaas is Assassination Tango nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
