Het verhaal speelt zich af in Australië in de 19e eeuw. Charlie Burns en zijn broer Mikey worden gevangen genomen door Captain Stanley. Ze worden er samen met hun psychopathische broer Arthur van verdacht een brute misdaad te hebben gepleegd. Stanley doet Charlie een bijna onmogelijk voorstel in een poging een einde te maken aan de bloedige vicieuze cirkel.
