De 29-jarige Tully is een voormalig bokser. Om te ontsnappen aan zijn lege bestaan, wil hij een comeback maken. Tijdens het trainen ontmoet hij de jonge Ernie. Hoewel Ernies gedachten meer bij zijn vriendin zijn dan bij het trainen, is Tully ervan overtuigd dat Ernie een groot bokstalent is.
