1939: Europa staat aan de vooravond van W.O.II. Italië staat in het middelpunt van het tumult nu Mussolini net een pact met Hitler heeft gesloten. In de Italiaanse filmwereld is echter alles nog pais en vree. Producent Davide Rieti begint net aan zijn nieuwe film in de Cinecitta studio, met in de hoofdrollen de Duitse superdiva Kristina Baumgarten en de Britse acteur James Clavel. Beide sterren hebben het nogal moeilijk met zichzelf en na enige schandalen, de oorlog en problemen met de overheid zit Rieti al snel met de handen in het haar.
Nee, helaas is The Moon and the Stars nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
