Jim Killian (Ford) is de vreemdeling die in een westernstadje opduikt, waar machtige veeboer Asa Beck (Anderson) de scepter zwaait. Killian is een voormalige schurk, die nu predikant is geworden. Als Beck zijn kerk plat brandt, zweert hij wraak.
