Salem 1692, burgemeester Parris is de spiritueel leider van Salem. Wanneer de dochters van Ann en Thomas Putnam vreemd gedrag beginnen te vertonen, weet Parris dat hij dit kan gebruiken om de rust in het dorp terug te laten keren. De Putnam-meisjes en de bediende van de familie, worden al een lange tijd als heksen beschouwd. Zoals zovelen in Salem lopen zij kans om tijdens één van de openbare terechtstellingen gedood te worden.
