Sarah gaat tijdens haar vakantie naar Nieuw-Zeeland, waar ze haar moeder voor het eerst sinds jaren weer zal zien. Haar moeder heeft echter nauwelijks tijd voor haar en Sarah gaat haar eigen gang. Op een gegeven moment vindt ze een gewonde albatros, die ze stiekem gaat verzorgen.
