In het dorpje New Bethlehem gebeurt iets heel vreemds. Een vrome gemeenschap leeft onder het juk van de waakzame dorpsoudsten. Zes meisjes van verschillende moeders zijn elk op dezelfde dag geboren. Het zou toeval kunnen zijn maar de meeste mensen geloven dat het een huiveringwekkend voorteken is voor wat nog gaat komen. Nu, op hun 18e verjaardag, verdwijnen de jonge vrouwen een voor een op mysterieuze wijze.
