Joods meisje Hannah Stern (Kirsten Dunst) moet elk jaar mee naar haar tante voor een bijeenkomst ter nagedachtenis van de oorlog (WOII). Hannah heeft hier eigenlijk geen zin meer in en vindt dat er wel genoeg over de oorlog is gesproken. Dan gebeurt er een wonder, Hannah komt in een soort tijdlus en belandt in een concentratiekamp tijdens de oorlog rond 1941.
