De na de Tweede Wereldoorlog naar Amerika geemigreerde Michael Laszlo wordt ervan beschuldigd oorlogsmisdaden te hebben gepleegd. Zijn dochter, advocate, gaat op zoek naar bewijzen voor haar vaders onschuld, maar bij het ontrafelen van zijn verleden lijkt het of het om een andere persoon gaat.
