Een stel hardlopers uit McFarland in Californië onder leiding van coach Jim White, een nieuwkomer op de school met overwegend Latino's, besluit een cross-country team te vormen. De coach en de leerlingen moet nog veel van elkaar leren, maar wanneer White de uitzonderlijke loopprestaties van de jongens ontdekt beginnen er dingen te veranderen.
Nee, helaas is McFarland, USA nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
