Een alleenstaande moeder wordt geplaagd door de gewelddadige dood van haar echtgenoot. Bovendien heeft ze te kampen met haar zoon Samuel die een nachtelijke angst voor een schimmig monster heeft ontwikkeld. Maar al gauw wordt ze zelf ook geconfronteerd met een duistere aanwezigheid in het huis.
