Een jonge soldaat genaamd Cole ontsnapt aan haar verstikkende stadje door toe te treden tot het leger, waarbij ze wordt uitgezonden naar Guantánamo Bay. Tijdens haar missie ontstaat er een vreemde vriendschap tussen haar en een man die voor 8 jaar gevangen zit op Gitmo.
