Op de laatste dag vlak voor de zomervakantie ontvangt Michael een anonieme liefdesbrief. Hij vermoedt, of liever gezegd hoopt, dat deze komt van Deborah, het meisje waar hij al een tijdje achteraan zit. Maar Deborah gaat alleen uit met studenten. Dus Michaels beste vriendin Toni adviseert hem om een anonieme liefdesbrief terug te schrijven. Maar wanneer deze brieven in verkeerde handen vallen en veel verwarring veroorzaken, moet er uitgezocht worden welke brief van wie vandaan komt.
