Donna Stern is een 27 jarige komiek uit Brooklyn die het erg goed doet bij het publiek. Wanneer ze harteloos wordt gedumpt door haar overspelige vriend, bereikt ze een dieptepunt. Ze vervalt in een sombere reeks wraakuitingen en Holocaustgrappen en in een dronken bui belandt ze in bed bij de jonge Max, die totaal niet haar type is. Een paar weken later komt ze erachter dat ze zwanger is geraakt.
