Warren Allman (Dan Fogler) heeft geen baan en heeft geen doel in het leven. Hij vindt uiteindelijk zijn levensbestemming na een onplezierige ontmoeting met een zwerver die het einde der tijden preekt. Nadat hij zelf levendige apocalyptische dromen krijgt, raakt Warren geobsedeerd door de voorspelde doemdag in 2012 en de theorieën die hier over rondgaan. Hij besluit een documentaire te maken over dit onderwerp, terwijl zijn verloofde bezig is hun trouwdag te plannen.
